A New Boiler for Your Oxted Home
Heating Services ltd, a heating and plumbing company based in Oxted, Surrey, covers boiler installation in Oxted and other towns across London, Surrey and Kent. A boiler is sized to the house, not to the old boiler: radiators, bathrooms and incoming water pressure decide the output, measured on a survey.
How is the right size of boiler worked out?
Boiler output should match the house, not the boiler that was there before. The number of radiators, the number of bathrooms and the incoming water pressure all decide it. Heating Services ltd surveys the property and sizes the boiler to what it actually needs.
An oversized boiler switches on and off constantly and wastes gas doing it. Too small, and hot water drops off central heating Orpington whenever two outlets are open. Both mistakes are avoided by measuring rather than guessing.
Can you legally install your own boiler?
Not a gas boiler. In the UK, gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and a boiler installation also has to be notified to Building Control. A DIY gas installation also voids the manufacturer warranty and can leave your home insurance in question.
What is black sludge doing to your heating?
The symptoms are easy to recognise: radiators cold along the bottom, some never heating properly, a banging or kettling boiler, and black water when you bleed a radiator. All of those point to sludge rather than a boiler fault.
A pumping unit is connected and cleaning chemicals are circulated at high flow through each radiator in turn. Once it is clean, Heating Services ltd adds corrosion inhibitor and a magnetic filter where needed. Otherwise the debris builds straight back up.
Can a combi boiler be used as a system boiler?
Not as it stands. A combi heats hot water on demand and has no cylinder, while a system boiler is designed to heat a stored cylinder. Switching from one to the other is a system change, planned after a survey.
